Richard Viguerie’s Remarks in behalf of Virginia U.S. Senate candidate  Jamie Radtke to the Republican 10th Congressional District Annual Reagan  Dinner, April 27, 2012.

 


Howie Lind, our Chairman, has given me 3 minutes so I’m going to talk fast.  Please listen fast — this is important, folks.  In 1976, Ronald Reagan was running for president and was opposed by the Republican Establishment including the Rockefeller, Nixon and Ford wing of the party.
And, in the campaign he talked about the need for new leadership —  leadership unfettered by old ties and old relationships.  The Republican leaders in 1976 and again in 2012 are fettered with old ties and old relationships that is a major cause of the growth of government.
In 2006 and 2008, the Republicans lost the Congress and the White House having nothing to do with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or Barack Obama.  But it had everything to do with the failed, flawed Republican leaders in Congress, and the White House.
